    Another Galaxy schematic error?

I was not clear here - I meant. Q39 shorts out and kills the audio input from the MIC audio, as it should, when triggered But I am not sure if what you mentioned is an error in the drawing.

    Another Galaxy schematic error?

I have looked at that section of the MIC audio line before. Q39 killing the MIC audio input. Not sure if that is a mistake. usually the AMC/ALC is disabled on all the radios I ever worked on. But, I have seen other mistakes in RCI/Galaxy schematics. such at the PLL circuit, to the varicap...

Cobra 2000 GTL Final Output Transistor Problem

drinking my morning coffee here, do as mentioned above. I was given a 2000 about two weeks ago with this same problem, TR36 blowing out. there was about 10 volts at TR36-base. but I could adjust the voltage at TR37-base to proper levels. so cut out capacitor C152. it was leaking DC...

DX2517 EDP690010Z Low RF Power First Time Posting. Really need some HELP,INPUT

just checked the posting here, and SuperLid just asked a great question "Where did you get the final and drivers from" I recently had good results using the HQ made transistors from that Fat Boy guy in New Jersey.

DX2517 EDP690010Z Low RF Power First Time Posting. Really need some HELP,INPUT

woaa! you replaced all that! but can you adjust VR10/11 for the bias there? the finals? as brandon said, "in SSB (with mic gain minimum)" key up. check the 8V that supplies the bias R243/R245 junction to ground. check the voltage at base of Q47/48/49 for around .65 the voltage at the...

    Ranger RCI-69VHP (EPT690012D) - Trimpot VR15 and testpoint TP9 - what are they for?

again - just drinking my morning coffee here, and took a peek at the schematic. TP9 is at the signal path on the way to the transmitter RF amplifier output circuitry. I would say this test point is used at the factory when the new radio is tuned up, L40/42/43/44 around mixer IC9. Everything...

    BIAS HELP needed RCI 2995DXHP

drinking my morning coffee. found the amp you are talking about. EPAC10010B or maybe 10010D, as also in the Galaxy DX-94HP 4 IRF520's. that bias procedure is for the main board. TP7 VR13 just like most of them other IRF520 RF AMP radios. for your external amp, since you worked on it...

    BIAS HELP needed RCI 2995DXHP

so are you inquiring about that external RF PA with 8 IRF520 MOSFETs? or the main board, usually having 2 or 3 IRF520's. ?

    Ranger RCI-69VHP (EPT690012D) - Trimpot VR15 and testpoint TP9 - what are they for?

just drinking my morning coffee here, and took a peek. that circuit adjusted by VR15 is the positive going modulation level from the series modulator ouput. so MM must be for Modulation Meter.

You're Invited to the HF Activities Net

I was checking into this group, starting at 12:30 CDST(?) 17,157.5 kHz But have not been there much in the last year. I am building a vertical dipole, made from and old broken CB ground plane antenna, and a 20 ft. pole. will be fed with ladder line. Should work great 20, 17, 12, 11, 10 meter...

Cobra 2000 barely any transmit power going out ???

just looked at DTB Radio website. This is funny that he posted: Due to issues with RCI quality issues we no longer stock or recommend any RCI products. We will still do special orders. --------------------------------------------- I like working on them RCI / Galaxy radios. I have a 2950 and...

    CP2000 Repairs

these are the same radios for the most part. the 102 had the SWAN brand name on it. 103 has the CUBIC brand name on it, the company that bought SWAN. new paint colors, and also the 30/17/12 meter bands added to it.

the CWN filter is described on page 3-7 of the 102BX Service Manual. it is not an optional filter. there is a section of circuitry that is switched in with diode CR103.

    CP2000 Repairs

. check diode CR103 on the Exciter Board. the CW filter is some added crystals and other circuitry. these PIN diodes fail all over this radio. especially in the preselector board. they can be replaced with 1N4148's.

    CP2000 Repairs

so what problems are with your CP2000? the mic speech compressor? I work on Cubic Astro 150 / 103 (Swan 102) radios. And in the past SGC marine band SSB radios. they have that Don Stoner guys thoughts inside them. great SSB stuff! similar circuits here and there in those radios. I just got...

General Lee dual 520 bias question...

been following this thread. it is fun to make these transmitters work! so Hawkeye351 did you get this radio to transmit without the dropping power problem? and any modulation problem? here is what I would do. disable that AMC circuit. keep D92 or R249 cut out. or adjust the pot so it does...
