From over 100 miles upstate my scanner is FULL of NYC traffic in the 154's.

Most R-S scanners are Uniden made. They are as good or better than most. I have a PRO-2051. It is basically a re-badged Uniden BCT8. http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Pro-2051

Well since this is back up after 5 years I'll add something. NY is the same way. NO scanners in vehicles....unless you are a Ham or EMT, FD, etc.

The shop you went to is a joke then. Worse than wal-mart. The 25 is a great radio. Get you a Wilson 1000 and have at it.

Yeah, I had NO idea those radials were that long! The pic does not do it justice. If it were 40' up I would not care, but it is only about 20' to the bottom of the antenna and it is right in my back yard. I am in a quiet residential neighborhood and I can imagine what my wife and the neighbors...

I just installed a new Maco V58. For aesthetic reasons I am wondering if I can run this antenna without the ground radials? Will this harm my radio?
