Just like that, found one in decent shape (At least on the pictures) on eBay for a whopping $25 free shipping (not including taxes.) Purchased. :)
With that being said, was a bad capacitor the main culprit this entire time? would leaving the resistors alone still be ok after a recap?
Too damn awesome! And a GREAT job you kept at it! I was wanting that exact radio a couple years ago, but was afraid to buy it as it isnt one that reads a "power mic" in the label in the front....
Now I will keep an eye out for the radio you fixed, and do the necessary changes to it. :) I...
You will be the very first I notify when I sell it. :) Thanks for keeping up yer interest in it. I will try and get some pictures of it with it on and check for transmit/receive. Maybe not today but currently going through stuff in the Garage.
I havent sold it yet. I was randomly thinking about the radio last week, and the fact someone on here asked about it lol.... I should power it up to be sure it still works. :D
I wish I could sell it locally so I don't have to ship something like that out. I live in Kansas. But I may have no...
Hello,
I do have a some Motorola 2n6124 transistors that I have used in a couple of my TRC-465 radios. I was wondering if a better alternative is the TIP42C? Unless the TIP42C is not ideal to use as the AM regulator.
Thanks on any input regarding this. Hope ya'll have been doing well.
Wonder if Google is planting all of that in Nevada. They bought a BIG chunk of land many years ago. (Circa 2017?).
Reason I know this is because at the end of a work day, some rock crushing equipment got moved just off the side of the road onto some bare land... Not even half hour later or so...
I got the names mixed up! I apologize. I meant you are great too! :)
Here is the link for the original OP to your upload:
Cobra 89/1000 GTL service manual.
I posted in another thread about the service manual for the 89 GTL. With patience and as long as he has it, he will have it uploaded. Dan is pretty great like that. :)
Hello Dan.
There is a gentlemen here as well as myself in need of a Cobra 89 GTL service manual, which is in Sam's CB-235.
If you don't have that one, I believe CB-217 has the Cobra 29 GTL in it, which should be the same board inside the 89 GTL. (It very well might be a Cobra 25 GTL board, but...
I am going to try to haul back the two Imax 2000 antennas I have. One was given to me around 2017. The 2nd one was from a lot of radios I picked up around the same time. One could use some help in protecting the fiber glass, but may as well do the same on the other one that is in better shape...
I finally was able to bring back the Palomar 350z my father bought back in the 1980s last month. But as it was stated in another thread when I asked, it isn't quite worth the investment to try and get it going again as that particular model is riddled with issues that the cost to even try and...
I will not go passed Windows 10. I barely went to it in 2021. :D
After this? Going to some distribution of Linux. And even I dislike the way Linux is done with all its confusing files and scattered in a million folders.
I miss the Commodore Amiga days... :)
