    I dealt with many of those back in early 90's. Many Alan and Midland radios sold here had those plugs. Plastic was melting on attempts soldering wires, it was very tight fit into a sockets and aluminium again steel when locking it into a socket was twisting tough. Mike

    Use AF signal generator and scope and trace it from mic socket backwards. You'll find it within minutes. My bet is cold solder joint at the mic socket or (and) cracked copper foil. Use DMM to check continuity. Mike
