what about a hand held with an antenna that mounts outside the truck...plug and unplug...maybe a window mount or something that is removeable?
Just thinkin outloud
The face on my Cobra 25 (side mount mic) is looking rather shabby...is there a place that sells replacement faces?? I dont even know if/how to get it off as I haven't had the radio apart...
Thanks,
Casey
for a long time I was looking for the "best" mic... After looking around I finally went with a RK-56...I have had nothing but good feedback from people on other radios...VERY happy with it.
Thanks,
Casey
Well I went to radio shack today and picked up the 4x6 just like yours and got it all hooked up....Mounted in under the driver side of the truck just in front of the door and its loud! I am more that happy with the volume...my only problem is that if I have the dynamic turned up too much I get...
Let us know how it turns out and if you like it which one you got. I also what to put a PA in my truck but want to make sure I get one that is loud enough to be heard over my diesel motor...
Thanks,
Casey

Thanks for the tip...this one seem to be the popular choice...are there any differences between the M6B and the M6C other than the color of the outside of the case?

I am tired of the stock mic...real cheesy/cheap feeling...plastic, VERY lightweight etc...
Don't know much about mics at all...what do ya'll suggest?? BTW, this is for the setup in my sig...
Thanks,
Casey
I know that when my SWR meter is hooked up to the system, as I adjust the RF Gain up and down, the SWR's go up and down...or maybe its the power that is going up and down...that would make sense.

Sorry...the Antenna is a Wilson 1000 with the 62.5" steel whip...the vehicle is a 1997 F-250HD 4x4 7.3L Powerstroke
The antenna is mounted on the bed rail about 1.5' from the cab on the driver side
Well thats the other thing...I don't think my RF gain is setup stock...I think the guy I bought it from made the knob do something else...not sure what though...should probably try and find out...what should the RF Gain knob have as it is adjusted?
Thanks for the replies...sorry I am not an...
Is it normal to be adjusting the squelch a lot while driving?? Even on an open Highway like I-5 in CA? I am talking about the radio in my sig.
My neighbor has a Uniden P68xl and there is a "dynamic squelch" switch on his...I drove his truck around town the other day for about 15 minutes...
I've got a Cobra 25 GTL (Peaked, Tuned, Swing Mod) and a Wilson 1000 antenna...
I have gotten out approx 15 miles with that setup pretty clearly but would like to get out further without hurting my radio...What do you guys suggest for a reasonable price? I don't know much at all about AMPs...
