The only problem downunder is that there are not many horizontally polarized operators.Around my area 4-5 within 10km radius. Very few and far between. The antenna is installed with the wire horizontal. The action here in my state is very limited with seemingly only a couple of hundred operators...

Okay, had a play and it barely just picks up local traffic on the sides compared to my 5/8 vertical and only strong stations forward. As for rear I cannot seem to pick up any stations. regards Norm:unsure::unsure:

After all the advice I could gather I think I will add 5% to the reflector length and not use a coil former. Cheers Norm:thumbup1:

I'm with you on that one capt'n.Have tried to source the info as to why they have a coil on the reflector side but no luck. If it didn't need it why put it in, it must serve a purpose cheers from downunder, Norm:thumbup1::thumbup1:

G-day all' I am in the process of building a v-quad based on the Maco VQ2 Quad instruction manual. I have come to a halt as I am unsure as to the length of the coil former. Does anyone have a rough idea or an accurate size as to what it could be? This is the only part that is holding me up...
