The comments here remind me of the day I applied for helicopter school in the Army and was told that I didn't qualify. I asked why and they said that I didn't have the background knowledge. I had taken the easy courses in High School and let courses that would have given me the opportunity to be...
Hello Mike,
To eliminate the basic knowledge of amateur radio would be like buying a new car and letting it sit in the drive way because you don't know how to drive it. Try to imagine what amateur radio would be like today if it wasn't for some very hard working and devoted people who have...
Congratulations ! Well done. I haven't even opened the Extra class book I bought from ARRL yet. lol
Our club has a woman thats 79 years old and she took the Extra class exam a month ago. She didn't get one question wrong. Our President was the first to get her answer sheet and he said he was...
I'll do it Trucker. Right now I'm waiting for the 21st to get here at which time I will have a chance to ask fellow members what they suggest at our monthly meeting. I want something before the end of the month when we have our field day event. I don't believe we have a 6 meter repeater close...
I'm glad I read this before I called them. I wonder what company policy's they have for warranty's on their product. Have to give this some more thought.
Thanks,
Harold
Happy....you sold me on that rig fair and square. I saw it but didnt read enough. I didnt realize that it was all mode. Now to find the best deal for it out there. It sure is a beautiful radio.
Many thanks,
Have a blessed day,

I'm looking for a 6 meter mobile rig and would like some idea's on what I should be looking for. I have a ICOM IC-718 and I just bought a Yaesu FT-7900 and I love them both. I do not have anything what so ever for 6 meters though. From what I have heard on 2 meters, 6 meters is going strong. I...
I'm experimenting Beetle. Love this hobby. Found a 70m J-Pole also.
Doc, I was told the same thing at our last club meeting. Waiting for my Yaesu to get here now.
Many thanks,
Harold
I just ordered a Yaesu FT-7900R 2M & 70cm transceiver. I have a J-Pole antenna for 2M and I'm not sure what to use for a 70cm antenna. Would it be possible to use the J-Pole? If not what do you suggest?
Have a blessed day,
Harold
The real quetion is why were these frequency's selected to begin with. For example....14.223....is that because the Military only wanted to work Extra's? I looked at the link listed in the first post and decided to stay away. Obviously I just did't understand their motives. It listed frequency's...
The antenna that came with mine was busted right off at the case level. I took the rest of it out and using an antenna that I have had for years I put a screw on the end using a washer and nut and then another washer and nut on the bottom once I had it in pace. Tightened them all down real tight...
