    Antenna suggestion for HF bands

That makes sense. I was just wondering about the whole height issue, does an antenna require a certain height to function on a certain band. From your statement you don't, it will function however not ideally. I'm heading over to Wikipedia after posting this message to see what I can dredge up...

    Antenna suggestion for HF bands

I like the sound of those Outback Antennas. I'll have to contact the company and see if they have any photos available. Does height on an antenna make a difference besides being able to grab radio waves better? I mean, could you technically build a 2' HF antenna, just sacrificing range?

Heh, I guess that answers my question. What's the next best thing then?

    Antenna suggestion for HF bands

In this thread I mentioned that I'm looking into purchasing a ham radio primarily for talking on the 11 and 10 meter bands, then going on to get a license for the rest of the HF bands. My question here is can one purchase an antenna that is capable of transmitting and receiving on the entire HF...

    family radio license??

Not that I'm an expert or anything but the Uniden GMR-1588 (FRS/GMRS, 12 watt??) 2 way radios are nice. Check them out here (use Google Checkout to knock $30 off the price). They are handy to have in the Jeep for emergencies or towing folks.

Question about export radios frequency range (newbie)

I will checkout those antennas. I will be playing around in the 11 & 10 meter frequencies first though so it sounds like my Firestik will function well there. I'm just getting into four wheeling, although it's a seasonal thing here where I live. It's way too cold for it now, will have to wait...

Question about export radios frequency range (newbie)

Maybe, I spend a lot of time in the Jeep (it's my main vehicle) besides playing in the mud. :)

Question about export radios frequency range (newbie)

Hmm, sounds like ICOM is the way to go then (thanks for the info!). Money isn't a huge issue as I've been saving up and am willing to save up a bit more to get the best mobile. KingCobra_CDX882 pretty much stated my buying philosophy, I always try to get the best even if I have to save up for a...

Question about export radios frequency range (newbie)

How does the ICOM that you mentioned compare to a YAESU FT-857D? Thanks for the tip on the law, will keep in mind!

Question about export radios frequency range (newbie)

I'm seriously considering a radio for my Jeep, and being somewhat new I've got a question or two. I had originally planned on just purchasing a regular old CB radio for trail rides, but after doing research I came across the 10 meter export radios. If I'm understanding what I'm reading these...
