I had own 458 and 449.And for the moment I own 490. The 490 has very good recieve like 458.The 449 has little nosier rx. All three of them sounding very good in the air and is very frequency stable.. Many newer radios i worse compare to the realistic trc models..

One reason that I can hear stations better is that I have less static noise with the GM compares to others antenna I have own..The rf choke is answer for that I suppose.You don't see so much improvement in S unit but in audio the improvement is more noticeable.:thumbup:

I took my ohm meter and check it. The antenna connector is coupled to the mounting clambs. So pole is not decoupled from the antenna :confused1:

I have drive over many bridges most flated bridge, and see the same results.. The longer the bridge is there stronger is the signal.

I have been tested 500 watt in ssb modes with klv 1000 amps and it works well..But I think in FM mode with 500 watts the GM can not handle the watts so well..It's a pity such good antenna,:sad:
