We are going into winter so dont expect much. High bands are always more active in the spring and summer. Fall sometimes. Summer...
A yagi is definitely a game changer but knowing where to point it and when is huge. I would encourage you to do some research on your area and reach out to other hams. The weak signal niche is kinda small compared to the HF guys but we are passionate about what we do. Plenty of good resources...
I have run a 2 meter ssb activity group (net) on Thursday evenings for the last several years. It started out as a few guys getting together weekly to ragchew. We had no other goal but to make noise on 2m ssb and keep it alive. One of the originals died a few years ago and I've made it a goal to...
Unfortunately they do now. Back in the Pre-Barjan buy out days they were US made. I had a 636 back in the 90s that was nearly indestructible. I picked up a "red devil" a year ago and wow what a difference. It might look the same but the quality just isn't there anymore... it's a shame..
Had 6,2,222,432 & 1296 going this weekend. Analog only low power class. Managed 66 Qs and 4,545 total points. 30 Qs from rover band runs helped on multipliers! Not as active as June contest and bands were less than stellar for tropo in 9 land but still fun.
Glad it works for you red. It does look cleaner. I'm not totally against using the front pocket though I think I will try the rear first and see how it works. I've got a plan and I will post my progress in this thread.

I believe he recommended those models because of the deep wedge design. The standard plate with the 2 catches that grab the inside of the pocket won't work from what I measured. The models you linked are the same build style as the breedlove 910 or 930. These would probably work on the front...
Planning an install in the new Silverado. I decided again drilling a hole in the roof. Not a huge fan of magnet mounts for permanent installation. Planning on installing a front fender under the hood style mount for vhf/uhf. This leads me down the stake pocket road for a 10/11 meter antenna. My...
I ran a 108 inch mfj steel whip for a few years. No spring off a breedlove ball mount. Worked fantastic. Its been in my shed for years now. I will never turn loose of it. I don't know if I'd ever find another...
Worked Colorado on 2 meters this morning. 980 air miles contact from Illinois. Done SSB NOT ft8...
6 was wide open also. Had a pile running on ssb.. over 80 contacts in a row.. then I had to go QRT.
Great day for 50 mhz and up fun!!
Well it went just as I thought it would. Checked the radar after I got all my ducks in a row.. had a "window" i figured i could get up the tower and pull up the 6m beam. Get it all buttoned up and back down before the rain started. Sure enough.. about the time I got to the top and got the boom...
Looking to haul the 5 el 6 meter beam back up the tower tomorrow...will probably have to dodge a few rain drops. My luck, if I don't put it up 6 will be wide open this weekend.
I plan to be active on 6,2,222,432 &1296 this weekend.
