My next radio related purchase will be...

Definitely going to be beer/booze.... what good is a radio without the proper alcohol to make it work? lol!!

why is my amp clicking on and off during TX on high?

Excessive negative modulation will also cause this... is the limiter intact?

    galaxy 959 question

Maybe not "normal", but "not unsual." Like most mass produced electronics, it's unlikely for it to be "spot-on". It just needs to be (re)aligned.

    COBRA 1000 RECEIVE ?

Ahh, the old 'take a break' technique...Works wonders sometimes...

    Replacement Finals??????

If you're getting 15W on SSB, the problem is not the final or driver. Check around the AM regulator. Maybe deeper than that...

    COBRA 1000 RECEIVE ?

Perhaps the anti-spike diode that feeds power / audio to the final and driver? I'd give you a part number but I'm not at the shop and for some reason cbtricks is not responding.

    FT-757GX help

Looks to me like they'd go to the emitter. Looks like a diode used for "thermal tracking".

    cobra 29 audio IC

Cobra sent me the datasheet in pdf, post or pm your email addy and I will pass it along. I believe it stems from the discontinuation of the 7222 (or at least that's the chatter on the inside).

    connex 3300 hp

I believe it is "D", someone correct me if I'm wrong. Just put it on channel 19 and flip through until you hear something.

    Strange Cobra 29 problem.

It may be a problem in the tx/rx switching. I see a lot of this caused by poor/cold/cracked solder joints as well.

    cobra 29 audio IC

The new 29's use a different chip than the 7222 (I'm not sure the exact date this changed, sometime late last year I believe). IIRC it's something like YD1022 (not sure of the number, I can check Monday when I get to the shop). It is an altogether different chip, and currently there is little...

connex 4300 and peat repeat wont get along

Where do you have the ground connected? Be sure it is connected to a "board" ground, as opposed to the power socket. I usually solder it to a "can" or the transformer. Also check the audio output level of the toy, making sure it isn't too high.

    Strange Cobra 29 problem.

Have you tried another mic or jumpering pins 1&4 on the mic jack? How about an external speaker? Does the meter indicate that it is receiving a signal?

    Cobra 29 LTDSE

Yup. Internally, they are the same, minus a simple mod for the talkback control. Otherwise, as far as boards go, they are identical to the new 29LTD.

    Galaxy 2547 getting hung up

One question... Does the s/rf meter show the signal being steady and present, or can you see it "fade in" on the meter... It's kind of hard to say exactly where to look, but... (assuming needle shows the "fade in", and most likely)... I would start near the center of the rear chassis (by...

    Galaxy 2547 getting hung up

I've seen this happen on many galaxy radios, the culprit has always been a cold solder joint. If problem occurs without amp in line, then I would look closely at the solder side of the board.

    2950 audio problem

It may be a grounding problem... Have you tested this with the covers both off and on? Try it into a dummy load and see if problem still exists. If not, then I would look into the rest of the system (antennas, coax, etc.) If problem still occurs, with covers on, into a dummy load, then...

    Erf 2030 ?

Should be a ceramic, 50V or better should be fine.

Swing Mod + for the magnum Delta force.

On AM, the voltage should change with the carrier power setting - higher carrier=higher voltage (i believe Lords said the adjustment pots were RV117 and 118). Also, in SSB, full voltage is applied to the finals.

    2950 audio problem

What is the carrier power on low, when you're seeing 10-12 watts PEP? Can you hear the distortion on a monitor radio in your shack (sometimes it's helpful to plug some headphones into another rig and listen)? It would also help to confirm that it indeed distorts on all modes - ssb/am/fm; and...
