Thought It might be good to share some advice re Amateur/CB buying/selling on Ebay.
Here's some of mine for what its worth:
Buying:
1. Read the listing and then again and again and maybe again! I find you can easily miss something with only a cursory look. For example right down at the bottom...
Yep. Great radio for sure.
I also now have a 95T2 now recently acquired. Wow this is a beauty! Great TX and nice Rx Audio (With an ext speaker..The one in the radio is so small you would miss it without looking carefully!) Up to 150W PEP. Now on this radio I CAN turn back the Output power with...
Hey! Calm down friend!
Point taken! Its never too late to learn you know!
Found this interesting article;

worth a read
All the best!
Interesting stuff! Think I can now see it from both angles. I remember on some of the older ham radios there were some mods that involved putting a 9V battery and a 5K pot in series and connecting it to the rear accessory socket. Some sockets had access to the ALC circuit which was intended for...
Have to disagree with you there. The ALC is not just a limiter but enables you to talk up the average peaks to give some gain without flat topping. Hence lots of Ham radios have an ALC meter to keep in the green or whatever. But you are right about the plastic radios. I have a lovely TS520S...
Yes thats the manufacturers "get out of Jail" excuse for not inc SSB power control. Turning the Mic gain doesnt achieve much unfortunately . It obviously will reduce the average output but you loose any punchy audio because the ALC isnt given the chance to Kick in. Might try increasing the...
My S9 is great but although the Variable power is good on AM/FM it doesn't work on SSB. 45W PEP at whatever setting. Is this normal for these? If so is there a mod I wonder?
Pete
Thanks Rob and others..quite an eye opener! Have really been temped by the Galaxy Range...Mainly because of the great looking Analogue Meter! But...I think Im going to stick to my S9..At least for the time being...Mind you that meter does look nice......
That's really interesting! The S9 suits my needs...Nice Receiver with excellent RF gain range and good Transmit audio etc. So....if I was to import /use one of the Galaxys presumably its not likely to be any better?
Hi Folks
At one time I was an out and out Ham radio operator and never even thought about going on the CB let alone buying one. I am now an out and out convert! I love em! In the UK we are really restricted over here with both channels and legal radios that meet the required regs etc. One...
Actually I do appreciate ALL input...As you rightly say..its a FORUM! Well I've been giving it thought and looking at the feedback and finally made a decision to buy a 10M Galaxy and be done with it. Thanks Folks for the advice/thoughts!
Thanks for the input. I do realise and appreciate your comments regarding this. I have successfully converted and realigned many radios for 10m over the years and have had a lot of fun and also learnt quite a bit!
So I have already owned and used both 10m and 11m converted and unconverted. Its...
Well Ive sorted it! Put Pin10 Down to deck with a switch. PLL wouldnt lock at first so a quick twiddle PLL osc transformer and now works on all channels. Interesting. Can go up to 28.495 now.
