The 6 & 10 meter have a ring of 13" diameter, the 2 meter has a 4" ring. I had both the 6m and the 2m and sold them, I don't have any of the manuals anymore either.
I have been using the TM-V71 for 8 years now and think its a solid radio. I mostly use it as a base using the Kenwood MC-60 desk mic and a Diamond X50 base antenna at around 30ft. I'm only have 50ft of 8X cable, could do better with LMR400! Had to put around 5 magnetic clip-on chokes to stop...
I have an inverted "V" (Omni-directional) dipole in my attic and it works great. My attic is 12' at its peak and no ductwork nearby. If you run the dipole horizontal it will become directional, the ends of the antenna will have the weak signals.
From my past experience you need at least 1/4 wave counterpoise connected to the ground on tuner, I was using a MFJ-969. If you don't you will get some RF burn, even as low as 100 Watts. But if you don't have an amp it might be ok.
