I seen the article but it is talking about retro fitting the new 24 pin into a older 22 pin circuit. I did check and voltages are the same on pin 16 which would be old pin 14 so might try it this weekend.
Upon checking with multimeter pin 16 has the same voltage readings as my 22 pin chip so one would assume it would be the same guess nothing left to do but try it out see I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the help guys
So based on that tsb it would attach to pin 16 but without knowing for sure makes me Leary although this ic would work in older radio what about a new one that has came factory with it?
Guess I would need to check with multi meter see which one was floating as said earlier
It boosts recieve on distant station but you have to be careful as a local will overload you. You install a 22k-220k resistor inline with it. The lower the value the more it is boosted. As I said this pll has 12pins on each side only says cobra 29 series on it
I like the mod. It doesn't boost...
Has anyone seen a 24pin pll chip in a cobra 29 nw ltd 2015 model. I was going to do the pin 14 pll to + c12 mod but didn't know how that would work out with 24pin pll
The older ones just have 22pin or ones I've seen anyway
Will do. If I'm able to get it out I'd like to worth trying one more spot anyway. I really appreciate the help man with both amps I'll let you know how it works out. Now if my receive parts will get here the 3 schottky diodes and tr7 transistor. Besides the c12 to pin 14 is there anything else...
Like I say the buzz is audible but not overly loud audio comes through loud and clear without the buzzing. With It off no buzz with it on slight buzz when keyed
Not sure which one it was but attached the echo sheild to mic ground and rfx sheilds to transformer added a 4700uf filter cap to the input and all is happy now. Get a slight buzz on transmit with unit on but can deal with that I suppose.
My point would be Friday at work me and a buddy were talking to a guy a good ways away guessing 45-55mi but not sure as the crow flys put meter on his radio .5w my peaked 29 doing 9w on older ratshack meter could hear both of us. I'm running wilson 1000 with 62.5in hes got k40 I believe not 100%...
None taken I can see exactly what you mean. I was kind of new to the hobby see it cheap power got sucked in..... we'll call it a $25 lesson but I figure everything is worth a shot. But on a power note
1. What would be the distance difference between say stock 5w avg 15-20pep
And 1969 supertune...
Yeah I wasn't really thinking when I posted that. The store bought from on ebay emailed instructions yesterday and they said 1/2 to 1w dead key. Guess one of those either or kind of things. Either you build up the transceiver to make power or you put a box behind it.
Got it fixed up. 18w carrier. Now just to tackle my interference gremlins getting interference and poor receive. Going to go over my solder joints. Also installed trb x-3 so can't rule that out either
You are correct sir thanks again therealporkchop. Getting this rfx in the nw and then put the 60 in the wx nw st. This forum is great thanks for the help guys
