I know a lot of people prefer the 500 over the 667, but since my 29 is really not driving that much , therefore is the reason I went with 667. I figured I could get more with the 667 since it has a driver built in.

No doubt about that, I’m driving it with a cobra 29 that has been peeked and tuned. DK is around 2 watts, swings around 10 or 12. Ive been told to keep the variable pot wide open to keep it from burning itself out. What do you think ?

Well just a follow up..... I got out there this morning and traced my power wire and to my forgetfulness . I had added a 30 amp inline fuse that was tucked away and hard to see and... wa....laaa...there it was a blown 30 amp. I just knew I had component go out when I checked the two 35 amp fuses...

I’ll tell y’all something else too, a good friend of mine has a cobra 29 lx for about a year now and his stock mic is cutting out as well. Mine is a 29 classic. I guess I’ll open it up and look into it a little later, we are getting ready for some bad weather over here in central Alabama.

When i key the mic, i can see the carrier raise, but sometimes when i talk it wont modulate,nor can i hear myself on the talk back. Now if i unkey the mic and start over most of the time it works fine. I can also key the mic and move the button around alittle i get some static interference in it...

I am on my second cobra mic and now it wants to cut out on me while I’m talking. I can tell it’s in the button because I can wiggle it and get it to cut up. Not wanting a power mic, cb has been professionally tuned/peaked and don’t want the sqeeling. Thanks

Is it possible to actually under drive a TS 667V ? All this talk about tickeling the driver with a very low dead key. What if u had a low dead key of 1 and a swing of 5 or 6. Would that be under driving it ? Thanks

Was just concerned about where to put the variable on the amp. I have read where the variable was the weak link on TS amps . Does that apply to the 667v’s as well. If so then from what I understand , the best case scenario would be full clock on the knob, right.?

I’m right at 2 watts carrier on a cobra 29. Looks to me like I need to set the carrier on the amp to dead key around a 100 watts with the variable knob on the amp and let it swing . Does that sound about right ? That would be on the high side I would assume.
