My Old K40 rides again !

Just a heads up, the K40 has a ceramic matching capacitor inside the coil base and it will not like your KL-200p power, will probably burn out sending swr through the roof and possibly blowing your amp. They were designed back in the days when CB radios were just 4 Watts. Great little antenna...

    SSB Delay

The Amps will probably not have the correct biasing for SSB use, all you will get is a large splatter box, which will not go down well with your fellow SSB operators. Just saying ;-)

Channel number announcer for blind operator.

Another excellent and simple idea. I cannot imagine how I would manage if I was to lose my sight, I do have Diabetes, but my sight is ok, touch wood, but knowing these ideas could benefit radio users everywhere. Thank you for a great and simple solution. Cheers guys.

Channel number announcer for blind operator.

Thanks for all the replies guys, yes I know ham radio gear has voice modules, sadly there is no budget for such a radio, plus he would be ever more lost with all the buttons, and modern touch screen radio's would be a nightmare for him. Yes I was thinking of the possibility of an Arduino...

Channel number announcer for blind operator.

Hi Guys, I hope this is the right section for this post. I am looking for a modification, possibly an add-in PCB that announces with voice the channel you have selected. I do believe there were some made many years ago, but I am having difficulty in finding any information. I am not on about...

    Alinco DR135DX Clarifier mod

Looking for a little assistance, I have the DR135DX Export radio which I like apart from one thing that bugs me. When you try to adjust the clarifier it mutes the rx audio which makes fine tuning a signal very hit an miss. Once the clarifier stops being moved it unmutes the signal. I heard...

    Got the Beam Up!

Oh yeah don't get me wrong they aren't too bad at first but they wear quickly and with no breaking inside them the beam will move left to right in the wind. I think we all agree they work to a point but I would rather advise of possible future failure than say nothing and his lovely beam comes...

    Got the Beam Up!

Looks Very nice, not too sure that rotator is upto the job though, it will struggle in strong winds to hold position. I could be wrong but if it is one of the cheaper ones I don't think they have any form of braking inside. It will definately work for now but you may want to think about a more...

Wilson "Ground plane kits" beneficial or not?

And how big were the radials on your ground plane? were they 6 inches as in the quoted model? If so then if I add two of them will I get 1000 Watts? Or do I have to go out and buy an amplifier ? Cheers Digger

    2 swr meters???

Any VSWR reading should ideally be measured at the antenna end of the coax, The one built into the atu will give you a reading of vswr into the coax, but it may be higher at the antenna end, this could be down to losses in the coax cable especially over long runs. So to answer your question Yes...

    isolation confusion

Let me clarify what I was warning about. Your coax can act like a large capacitor holding a big charge I was merely warning that after a storm it could still hold a high enough voltage to do damage when plugged back into your radio. I was referring to a non DC grounded system, and yes if...

    isolation confusion

Whilst tossing the coax out of the window sounds like a good idea, one thing you have to watch out for is static electricity build up in the coax, one you could get a very high voltage jolt when yo pick the plug up, or even worse you could discharge the charge when you plug it back into the...
