10 meter contest this weekend

For anyone who doesn't already know. The ARRL 10 meter contest is this weekend. It will be interesting to see a band everyone thinks is dead come to life for the weekend (hopefully). I'm not to going to compete by I will get in there and make some contacts and burn the dust off those 572B's

That is the thing with 10, it can be open yet no body knows it because no one tries it.

I am not a serious contestor, but I usually participate at some level during most of the contests...I figure I will spend a few hours playing around during this one as well.

cold and clear here in N FL so I will try to get some radio time in as well

It's slow going but I'm making a contact about every minute or so. I've got a pipeline to GA but also worked AZ, CA, FL, MS and a few other southern states. Guatemala was heard above 28. 500 for a few minutes but I just couldn't be heard.

what mode are they using ssb fm i've been listening all day.

SSB and CW for the contest. I'm running phone and have about 40 contacts logged so far including Argentina, Chile and Mexico. None were easy contacts!

Now propagation has shifted for me from the northeast. I've been using N3FJP's contact long and suite of contest logs for many years and I'm using his 10 meter contest log today. I was just spinning the dial and answered a contest CQ from none other than N3FJP!

I think 10 is shutting down for the day. Good day though with 65 contacts, 20 US states and 4 DX countries. Total operating time is about 4 hours.

Who said 10 was dead?

it was dead for me. but i am only using a dipole antenna.

I'm also using a dipole. Band is terrible today. I made contacts with stations in French Guyana. Dominica and Paraguay that was about it.

Band is dead! Only getting some short stuff. VK 1,2,3 4 and Northern territory
And thats with a 5el yagi.
Of course some ops might regard that good!
