11 meter is very quiet?

Hate to hear that but it's about typical around this time of year. If I get a window at all this time of year, it's been evenings but that's if any at all.
We're inching closer to fall and that's where it'll be so just hang in there.
Yeah I remember it was like this last summer, looking forward to Fall and conditions returning on 11 meters like it usually does!!!

This week we have been back to short E-skip out here. And I mean really short e-skip! I've had contacts as short as 600 miles and with needle-bending signal strength.......guys in Idaho sound like they are parked a couple blocks down the street. S9+ at times. Lots and lots of AZ, CA, MO, OR, UT, & WY as well Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Been much to busy working to get a lot of radio time in.........most of what I hear is while driving to jobs or working on stuff in the shop.

had to go rake hay.no radioing
Don't feel bad, I've been tied up re modifying my already highly modified Harbor Freight $ 100.00 carport in it's new location. It's been thru 2 winters snow loads and I closed it in to make it a portable Garage. Poor Folks have Poor Ways LOL. And I think I shocked the neighborhood when I moved the whole thing by picking it up with my little Kubota BX 2350 with my homemade forks in the bucket. Been a fun project but can't wait to get that Starduster dropped down to hopefully work some magic with the SWR. Like was said in another post Fall is around the corner and hope to be ready to touch base with the fine Gents. in here. But Summer is a busy time around here. Keep on Hoeing !

Well I got on the air around 2pm on 37 LSB and absolutely nothing but static, gave a shout out a couple of times and no response from anyone

Same thing down here. got on-the-air at about 1:30 37LSB. Nothing doing until about 3:30 or so started hearing some stations deep in the mud. At about 4Pm I could hear stations clearly. Called CQ-Dx and had some nice QSOs with stations in Arkansas, Texas, Louisanna, and Mississippi. At around 5Pm Georgie, Carolinas, Virginia, and Pennsylvania came booming in. 16 solid contacts. I'll give it a go again tomorrow. Same time, same freq. 73

Hit the airwaves at about 2:30 PM. Nothing happening. As usual a little after 3 things started to pick up and I had a long Qso with Brad in N. florida. His 7300 was loud and clear. He said I was the only station in his receive. After tying up 37LSB for a good 45 minutes, we backed off and let all the stations calling QSK have their turn. When things quieted down around 4PM, I gave him a call again. He came back and we QSOed until Mother Nature said "Good Night" around 5:30. Longest QSO I ever had. My Quad6pro and 4 element quad hooked up solid with his 7300 and Antron 99. Amazing !!
I know Dx in the Northern Hemisphere is Blah, but I'm almost in the Southern hemisphere (300 Km north of the equator) and he's in Florida almost as far South in the US as you can get. I also talked to a station in New York (in the Adirondacks south of Ottawa.) So the Northeast Corner was making the trip too. Strange Conditions. Try again manana. 73.

Nice QSO with Larry @DXman 178 in Washington, he is still s-9+ as I listen on 38 and he is making contacts.
Tried calling on 37, nothing there so far.

It did stay open for a bit, I could hear the Larry and Larry show (had to be there) and they were both working other stations.
As I started up the mountain, 178 was still S-9+ but when I made Gualiupe grade the band was gone again, that's a couple thousand feet up and in the clear so if they were still there I would have heard them.
It's there, just real random and short lived....

Dx on 37LSB was deep South and Southeast corner only. Good QSOs. Everyone was saying that the only station they could hear was me. I must be making the trip which explains why so many stations were coming back to me. I could hear a guy in Pensacola talking to a station in West Palm Beach. Less than 500 miles. Weird.
