11 meter is very quiet?

Turned on my Ranger 2995DX on this afternoon for the first time in a couple weeks,made contact with a station out of Alabama that went by Unit #45 and another one out of Panama City, Florida that went by #791 on 37 and 38 LSB,other than that it was pretty quiet, been busy with Work and taking care of my Dad and my daughter graduated High School yesterday and will be starting College in the Fall,where does the time go???? Looking forward to the fall and Winter when the DXING starts to improve..... hope everyone out there is doing well!!!!!!!!

Sounds good you had some luck because I was surprised how much activity I was hearing today. I shouted out a little but my neighbor was home all day and never went anywhere so I didn't really bear down on my system and I had piles of work waiting anyway. Never a shortage of things to do when you live alone. Doctors Lawyers and don't forget the Indian Chief.

I was camped out on my boat at Dry Tortugas National Park working my marine CB set up. There was some activity on LSB 39, 38 and 37, but not the pile-ups we get during peak activity.

Was hearing quit a bit of lower east coast today on 37 & 38 lsb but couldn't seem to connect so I didn't waste my day.

Listening for Europe in the early morning, getting ready for work. The past two days I have heard Scotland, and today I was able to make contact. Using the LT-310sdr in whisper mode with the AI filter set to 8, the RF gain set to 7, and the preamp on the 203, I can now copy what I normally couldn't. Great little DX boost to start the day off right!

I got up early because I had a 10:00am ECHO app. at the VA hospital so turned on the radio after 6:45 am to listen as I was bathing and the radio was active even then. Been sort of freakee hearing activity lately but it beats Static.

the last couple days were great conditions in ohio. 150 to 1000 mile skip, everything east of the Mississippi, from every direction. little will 3ft mag mount on the porch roof ecen got in on some of it. more than a couple folks said they'd never heard those kind of conditions since they started in the 70's. they'd heard stronger skip, but not of the nature it was. skip fell off the cliff this morning

Skip in the states has been booming here in western NC for about a week now on LSB. Jumped up to the international call channel last night about 11 pm EST, and had a QSO with 201DA101 French Polynesia at 5/7. My Antron 99 working it. More than likely it was the other guy's antenna, a 5 element OP-DES.

Most of the morning just noise and some faint signals.
Then as I was going to store and post office suddenly 1732 comes up with a strong signal and called CQ on 38
I answer and we talked about 5 minutes
just like he was local.
And then he faded into oblivion replaced by more static

Well that makes me feel better that some are getting a shot of interveinous skip.. Turned on the 2547 this morning and heard 37 & 38 lsb rolling so gave some shouts and again no answers. Now this is puzzling why I'm hearing but not being heard so thought it might be the Road Devil power mic. Switched the system over to my latest 980 with the stock mic and got answered. Needless to say I shut it down and walked away just as happy as if I was in my right mind ! LOL

Talked to a guy in Northern Washington state last year, the day after Christmas. He was talking on a 980 with a wireless microphone that his wife bought for him. He walked all the way to his mailbox, and I could hear him crystal clear while using the Uniden wireless microphone. Brand new stock 980 barefoot. Just can't remember what antenna he was using for his base station.

Yes I bought one of those wireless mics for my first 980 but have never tried to exploit it's usefulness. I've always had bad hearing and it's little speaker doesn't work for me well and old age has depleted my hearing even worse. There is a mod from another forum for opening up the mic hole a little which is suppose to help it's TX a little. May be some day I'll work on it !
