Looking at these radios what do yall think honestly is the best one.
Is there a difference, other than power output?
I have a 2950 paired with TS 350v and it does a really nice job. The radio has 1 watt DC on low 15W DC at full power. Good clean mobile rig.
I have a texas star 250hd just don't know if the 2950dx is to much for that radio..
Ran a 2950dx w an old Texas star 250 "Killer Bee" worked great. No problem. SSB mostly but I did occasionally yack with the locals on am. I just turned the variable power on the radio all the way down for am.
It is a high drive amp so there shouldn't be an issue. My 2950DX cd goes down to 1 watt and peaks at 13 watt dead key. I can tell you later what the swing is. The set up you have is nice and should sound clean. The RCI have a real nice receive. Its all about the ground and SWR in the antenna
Undertaker, I'm running a N2 with a sweet 16 and have great results. SSB all over the world, mobile
I have a 350HD and on AM it likes a real low dead key from the radio. A 4w dead key radio will give me about 200w dead key out of the amp. I use it on side band mostly so its not a problem to me.
I have had the 1st version N2 for about 5 yrs now I guess, I run it barefoot (225 watts) and It works great. I used it to work St. Helena Island and Hong Kong this pass cycle and then it was put back on the shelf ready for another hard to get DXCC.
I really don't use it very much for my 90 watt 2970dx gets me into the EU and Russia with out much problem. But, if you are running beam, then you probably wouldn't need it.
Which one? I probably start with the N2 if for the base. Mobile - then 2950dx (cd ?)
Any pics as I’m looking for a big Amp to run with my rci 2950 DX
It's a Texas Star 350, very common amplifier. Just do a google search and you will see hundreds of pics. Most people would not consider an amplifier with two finals a "big amp" but it will work just fine with a 2950 if you run it right.
possibly as big as the radio previous amps I’ve used have been RM small compared that particular model .
