What would be expected out of a straight 4 pill amp running 4 hg mrf421 at 14.8v, builder suggested an 80w dead key from the amp and it should have a pep of around 800w running a stryker 955 into it.

Appreciate the replies nomad and Dave.
The amp isn't mine, a friend of mine has it, and your replies are pretty much what I told him.
I just wanted a little confirmation because I'm not familiar with the 421 hg parts, or obese young man amps.
A quick goog and I saw the originals being 100w pep x4 and I don't know how the hg's compare.
I tested it and saw roughly 450w pep with a 40w radio into it.
He says the builder sent him a video of it swinging 800+w on some digital and bird meters...

I think he's ok with the power, he's just upset about the price he paid to get it.
$500 something foe the amp itself and some 100amp switching power supply the guy convinced him he needed to run it (but who doesn't need a good power supply).
That's after he bought a Chinese 150amp switching power supply that lit up the spectrum scope waterfall on my icom 7300 that was nearby not powered by that ps, (just his ps powered on nothing connected to it), and only got worse with an idling radio hooked to it, I don't think it's worth trying to correct that?
If I remember correctly, I think he sent the amp back to the builder because it wasn't doing what he claimed and that's where the video came from.
I think it was suggested he must have reflected power (the owner) or bad meters lol.

I'll have to take a closer look at the video, maybe I can get him to send it to me and share it if anyone would be interested.
Another quick ??
As is I think it's ok running a low dk into it 2-3w and a pep of around 40 or so shouldn't hurt it, I wouldn't run a 100w+ radio into it.
Would that be a good assessment?
