I get what you are saying, but if your post was written in response to mine, then i think you might have missed my point.

What you did was use the fact that you already have all of this info to guide the AI into only looking in places where you, the asker of the question, already know good info exists.

anyone can prompt AI proficiently if they already know where to find the answers to their question.

I purposely did NOT write an intuitive prompt because im trying to show something specific about how AI researches answers.

Im also being specific to GOOGLE AI, which is what most people are going to use long before deciding to subscribe to a better model.

If you read my post as a reply to yours, that was not my intention and i was just joining in the thread to show that the subject of CB RADIO has a very specific history and perspective that only exists on the internet.

the last book that was written specifically about CB radio was written well before the internet existed, and there are NO books about CB radio available for the AI to read.
(to be fair, im at work and cannot/will not download a file from the internet in order to read the AI's response, so if the AI actually read through all 29 secret CB books available on cbtricks then im happy to stand corrected)

so the only place the AI can source its answers to questions about CB radio are past internet discussions and what is for sale.

the point of my post was to show that we, the CB community created the "truth" that the AI spits back to us.

Is there any hope of anyone ever gaining access to what remained of the files? I thought I remember someone telling me the data is there, but the indexes got messed up. There has to be a way to reconstruct it if that is true.

I never knew Bennie or anyone that helped run the site. I used the site but I was never a member. If one of you guys still has the raw data or knows how to get it, that would be really cool.

Think we are a cross purposes, I agree with your initial post, I'm making a similar point in that the AI is not intelligent enough to provide reliable detail with broad asks. Only when you provide direction, specifics and references will it give you something better, paid subs or not.

I don't however, agree that anyone can prompt AI proficiently as the subject or the question could be anything from how to bake a simple bread to how do I build and control the output of DC power supply or some such. As such to get something reliable from the AI you need to have some existing understanding of the subject matter AND/OR understand that you will have a significant learning curve on the subject matter and will have to be very proficient at prompting the AI in qualifying the responses you get AND /OR do your own investigating to complement refinement of your initial prompt.

Understanding the limitations of the AI tools being used is the first step in not expecting more than can reasonably be expected from it. At the point I made in my previous post I'm taking it from the perspective that I'm already interested in CB radio, particularly the Adams PC-346AA and that I have some idea or places, people and documentation for the AI to look at in particular, both online and uploaded (because I'm already interested in the subject matter, I have some of that) and some tools at hand.

It does make reference to some users, Secret CB & Master Mods but not in a significant way (refining the prompt to tell me what volumes/pages it can or can't reference would be a next step) . Its not referencing the Uniden Export as far as I can see. It is referencing SAMS and the Adams Service Manual that I uploaded containing the SAMS relevant parts. So its not perfect and refinement of the prompt would require qualification, direction to maybe use specific volumes of Secret CB/ Master Mods potentially uploaded.

If we are limiting the AI to "free to use" a specific model (Gemini), a broad prompt where there is little or no understanding from the prompter of the subject matter then I think its only reasonable to expect a limited response arranged around a long winded Q and A where the prompter learns and qualifies significantly. Otherwise as you say (I agree) the "Echo Chamber" as you put it is mostly what you'll get or worse.

BUT for those of us who want to stop hunting around for documents, print-offs, URL's and specific forum posts it can be a useful way to tackle a Radio you already have an interest in, where RF engineering is a pastime/hobby learning curve in a particular area of CB and you can use that information provided to then requalify if you doubt anything on a well grounded forum like this or others to help with our hobby.

In doing so the refinement should not only benefit the AI (when you tell it its incorrect and provide the why) but in making the forums/ message boards facepalm and other things have increased validity.

It goes without saying (goes ahead an does it anyway ) GIGO.

There was a while when it was open to viewing without being a member. I only visited a couple times before I couldn't any more so I don't know all what was there.
Few years back, I was able to find a few archive snapshots that allowed reading of some of the forum, but typically one page deep before breaking down and it wasn't much. I was kinda hoping that one could use what was recovered as a map for putting the rest back together.

I think you make a good point here that we have to take the AI we currently have and do our best to guide it toward the answers we seek.
I suppose i just want it to be better right now lol.

I am actually very interested in the answer it gave you, but again i am at work and can't view the answer the AI gave you about broadbanding your Adams.

Can you tell me if it made reference to a specific article in Secret CB Volume 13?
I am very curious about this because while the "L4" part of this article has been discussed on forums such as Transmission1 and others, steps 6 and 7 might not have been.
To me that would say that the AI actually looked through volume 13 on CBtricks in order to get you that answer.
