Constant static on base..

So per advisement from loosecannon via IM, I had 6' of new coax laying about and his idea was for about 9' of coax just below the A99 then the RF choke to possibly help cut noise down abit and to give the A99 some counterpoise before the choke.. I originally had a 12" jumper than the choke.

So I put the 6' piece up. Time will tell if it helps but my noise floor seems lower and a contact 30+ miles away sounds better and above my noise floor which he was in before.. SWR may have gotten flatter as well as it seems to be 1:1-1 across on 1 and flat on 40.. IMG_20181127_143203578.jpg

Will you be weatherproofing the connections?

I wrapped the coax coming down into the choke with some etape for now to cover the coax and PL-259 to keep water out of the wire and coax sleeve until I can come up with something better. Where I live all we have is a tiny Truevalue store. Not sure what they have..

Cheap suggestions for that?

DX Engineering has a pair of weatherproofing kits. Description may be an aid.

Somewhere (Palomar?) I’ve also seen an instructional. End result is that the “casing” can be opened with a blade and simply shucked. Not gluey or sticky on protected items (in the perfect world of advertisers).
