Recently bought a DJI Mini 4K Drone for $300.I also bought crash insurance for $39. I had to send it in for repair. They sent me a brand new drone as a replacement. A week after getting it UPS called me and said US Customs wanted it back. Apparently, Customs said it was a product of forced labor.

I ignored the letter. Last week, DJI called me and pleaded with me to return it. They said they'd overnight me a new one. We'll, they lied. There's absolutely no Stateside stock. I'm out $363.75

I requested one, but fell on deaf ears. DJI will have to have their drones made in a Country that isn't identified by US Customs as using forced labor. Sucks bad! I flew it darn near everyday.
How do they know it was forced labour simply because it was made in China? If being made in China is reason to claim it was made using forced labour, that should disqualify ALL goods made in China. Sounds like someone in Washington is trying to stop imports.......one way or another.

This is the letter I got. It's vague. Basically says they think it was "potentially" made in a restricted area. It should say it WAS made in a restricted area.

I should have said I lost it. I imagine DJI would know. It connects to the internet. They could possibly even disable it over wifi. Really burns me because the guy lied to me.
Yeah this seems a pretty low-priority law enforcement action. Let somebody come knock on your door. Tell them it was a drone. You flew it, crash it and tossed it in the trash weeks ago. They can go look for it in the landfill if they want.

I seriously considered that.
