Galaxy dx99v No leds working

Frequency counter, channel, and meter backlight all went out when I switched on the +10KHz. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Did you check the dimmer knob?

Yes, it still clicks and turns, but the lights stay off.

The 10kHz switch uses the same 8V supply the PLL uses - to toggle the PLL chip.

Hope you did not fry the VCO or chip - the 10kHz switch might have a short you'll have to track down - starting at the switch. The Bandswitch is also suspect.

The +10 switch itself is pretty simple. Regulated 9 Volts comes in one side, feeds out the other side to pin 9 of IC1, found on the "band" circuit board bolted to the side rail. Has to be a mechanical fault shorting that side of the switch to ground. A wire caught under a bracket and shorting to ground is what I would look for first.

Okay, I've visually checked for all the above. Removed the boards and inspected. Nothing. Time to find a good tech. Any recommendations?

Galaxy DX99V back in service

This is Unit# 46 repaired in the last 6 weeks while working another full-time job!! Wow for me. Anyway, this is one that was done for a WWDX member which I will not mention. the image below shows the Restored top cover.
