Is there anyway to re bias this amp for ssb use? It works great on am but sounds HORRIBLE on ssb...

Is it like this one? Mine works fine on SSB.

uhhh...I wan't pissing at you.

wondered if yours was AC (like mine) or DC powered.

meter is fluff. know a guy that has one exactly like mine but has no meter. thought that and/or power source might be a difference.

but now I don't really give a rat's ass.

hope you find your solution straightaway. (y)

Staybolt I didn't see him starting anything with you. He posted a pic of the one he has, is that like yours? Does your amp have the same SSB switch? If so it should work fine. Maybe there is an issue with your amp or maybe you were overdriving it. Maybe your power supply in the amp is getting week and on SSB it causes warble or other problems. That amplifier might already be biased for SSB use.

Okey dokey.

4 watts on am. Idk about ssb. It's just a class c biased shit box like the grey 300 I had...

I don't have any experience with this model amp, but I would imagine that the drive requirements are exceptionally low for a pair of 455s. And I'd also guess the higher you go the less linear it will be and the worse it will sound (with little in return).
