Here where I live in Maine we have a few bad hams that like to jam the CB channel with there big amps and call names and they also like to broad cast a few of the cbers address on 11 meters and there names and there wife's names first and last over and over day in and out. There all hams and we know there call signs. There doing it just for the fun of it cause they don't like what we talk about our cbs cars and were all loser chicken banders but yet they spend most of there time on 11 meters and maybe 30 perecnt of the time on ham..Anyway they have even gone as far as to jam 11 meter channels as long as 8 hours.Im wondering since there hams can we even report them since most of us are cbers?2 of us are hams and talk on CB also the other guys are just cbers but there all a nice bunch of guys. One of the hams that's causing the trouble also rides by some of the cbers homes and says come on out just because he doesn't like the guy and got into it with him once on cb.If we reported them to the FCC and had a tape of them doing this it will still go on im guessing and they would say they didnt do anything but they are.The hams friends(our friends) talking to the cbers don't want to report them for some odd reason but they don't like these bad hams that are causing this trouble they just say leave me out of it im guessing they may talk to them on 2 meters etc.Im just wondering if these guys get turned into the FCC what would be done.we don't really want to call the police but it seems to be getting to that point .I was studying for my ham test online and was about ready to take the ham test but now I really don't want to makes me think they will cause trouble there to cause I know they do.any info will help but if you guys could hear these guys you really wouldn't believe there hams.

You're between a rock and a hard place. While the hams are clearly breaking laws jamming CB frequencies and are probably using illegal equipment doing it, the problem is proving your case. You must present evidence to the FCC that the jamming is being transmitted from the location of the ham in question. If you could video tape your mobile driving up in front of his house with the interference shown on your CB and remove the coax still hearing it at his house, you might have enough evidence to cause some response. In all honestly even that could be faked and may not get the response you hoped for. It might generate a warning letter from the FCC. You could just warn the person you have done this and will send it in if it doesn't stop.

Are you sure they are Hams? Sounds like CBers to me. Get their call numbers; don't ask them - just find out by being a tad sneaky.

Most Hams wouldn't do things to endanger their license. If you get their call numbers and can verify it to their address; then you can turn them into the FCC. But a recording would help, and also some help from other Hams that know about them.

Hams are self-policing. So, if/when other Hams complain to the FCC - they will generally do something. It might not be what you want; but what they can do. It's far more reaching than you expect - too...

Yes, just type there names into the fcc call search data base and you'll get their call signs and let them know you have their info and that'll usually stop the stupidity.

Hams are just as bad for being retarded as cb'ers when it comes to mike keying, playing music, and the ham favourite pastime of jamminfg repeaters/call channels.

a ham licence doesn't turn someone who's a nugget into a perfect radio operator, not by a long stretch of the imagination.they will still be a nugget with or without a ham licence.

if i was you d104 i'd put in a complaint just for the hell of it,they'd do it to you at the drop of a hat if positions were reversed,if your right and its hams then they will be treated the same way as cb'ers acting the james hunt,to be causing that much grief they must be running illegal equipment for cb regulations.

they are no doubt jealous you guys are having such a good time on cb,when they probably have pissed so many other hams off no-one will talk to them,so they go harrasing people having enjoyment, its always jealousy tht drives these retard types be they hams or cb'ers.

If they were hams, and fcc stepped in, they could loose their license...Make a recording, after that, send an e mail to ms smith at fcc, , and send in your tape, keep on recording and follow up with e mail and sending in tapes....action could be taken.

A CB'er has the same recourse as anyone else does, so complain about their behavior. It's a pretty good idea to document things, date, times, channels etc. A recording wouldn't hurt either.

who should you send that documentation to? I honestly don't know, other than to say the FCC. I'm sure that if you sought the proper routing from the FCC, they would tell you.

I dont know what to say here this just seeems bass ackwards yes I know how I spelled that. This in my opinion is a war like the one our goverment is fighting will never ever end like ford and chevy everyone needs to just get along but we know this will never happen so someone has to just swallow there pride and walk away and its not all Amateur operators or all CB operators just the bored select handfull playing the drama game or the look what I can do contest.

Its always going to be a p!$$ing match so I would follow moles link and start from there.

How do they know the CBers addresses? By the antennas on the houses? File a complaint with the FCC, report it to local police about the drive by harrassment. Will anything be done, who knows until its reported.

An amateur radio license doesn't make anyone a good operator no more than a drivers license makes a person Mario Andretti. And like drivers not all follow the rules.

Then there is the other likely cause, are you or any of your CB friends running CB linear amplifiers? Most of them are not filtered like the amateur amps are and amplify harmonics that could interfere with the amateur bands. Using export radios on the wrong frequency?

It almost sounds like the case of DrFox in general discussion

feel free to respond, this isn't qrz.com, if it was the first response would have had this :pop:

You have two choices file a complaint with the FCC or don't. No one on a forum can really help your situation. The only other thing I did point out is that if the FCC looks into the issue they most likely will look into the behaviour of all in the area, which might be why some don't want to report it.

More choices than two.

If some jerk off calls me out, parked in front of my humble abode, he better be willing to kill my old ass.

Real simple solution to that problem after you strap on a pair.
