hey aden, heres a 2 tuber for ya(sb-220)......i picked this one up from a retired ham op for less then half of what you would pay for a transistor box of equal output......things a tank man.....its almost as old as the both of us puyt together i would imagine.....



not many custom transistor amps can hang with this old mean green beast.......



only thing is the sb-221 has to be modded for 11m,i wouldnt

think it would be hard to get your hands on a clean NON butchered one........they are around....

i got my heathkit sb-220 for $300.....



it'll put 2kw on a dosy,no sweat....



about 750-1200 or so on the bird avg depending on drive....

i apoligize adenfan i didnt mean to sound like i was advertising it for sale.......



i was just trying to give you a idea of whats out there,that you may find for reasonable prices.......im not a expert or anything,

but this sb-220 has given me exellent serivce for the price i paid.......it would be hard to let go tho.....



i wish there was a web-site.......i got it from a local HAM op that was cleaning house.........



the advice i can give you is becareful buying sweep tube amps!!!look for something with transmitting tubes like 572b's or 3-500z's or 4cx250b's.....that would seem like a good starting point.



im sure others can also add to the list of things to look for and stay away from when buying tube amps......



idea:maybe someone should start a thread concerning "how to buy tube amps" or what to watch and watch out when purchasing tube amps.....,lol i know i need help too......
