Although I do not own the iPad 2, my clients are investing in them.
Corporate America's IT folks may be finding them cheaper to replace than laptops.
For the money I would go with the Wi-Fi version and not be locked in to a carrier.

I own the iPhone 4 which has the new firmware that provides a wifi hotspot.
I use the hotspot for my work laptop while I travel. So i was just going to use that for the signal.
AT&T, Verizon and Apple both say no contract is needed for the 3g one though. And now AT&T is giving 30 days free for new buyers to try them out
