So I have a end fed dipole I use for 40-10M on my ICom 7300, rather than putting up another antenna for 11m can I just use this antenna for my 11M radio too? I think LDG makes a generic tuner I could use with the 11M radio? The antenna resonates on 40-20-15-10m I believe.

    Thanks

Try it and tell us if it will work. That's my way of playing with antennas. ;)

It would probably work but just how well is the big question.
For the cost of the tuner you might be able to buy a regular CB base antenna.

I have an EFHW 80-10m up. I use it occasionally on 11 m, however, I find the resonant 11m vertical dipole works better.

Well it did not work. The LDG turner is not getting any RF signal on 11m.

    Oh well.

Too bad yours didn't work at all. I have dipoles and a vertical.multi-band end fed. The end fed does work on 11m using and LDG Z-100 Plus tuner.. The problem is the losses. It couldn't pull in anywhere near what the 11m vertical does. My set up seemed to peak out at around 10 miles. Anything over that was just too low to hear/understand or for them to hear/understand my Tx.

Something is wrong with your setup. What LDG tuner are you using?

What tuner and radio are you using? If you are using a regular 11m radio perhaps it does not have enough RF output to trigger the tuner.

The Z100 tuner. There is no radio cable interface, only coax cable, LDG states less than 1watt of RF will operate it, coverage 1.8mhz to 50 I believe. LDG said the radio interface cable will just allow more automation with some radios but not needed.

I tried to do a manual tune and got the blinking error code of no RF detected, odd it’s at least providing 4watts.

Sucks as I would love to get this radio working on this antenna, for local 5-15 mile chatting.

    Other suggestions.

The radio is a 1977 SBE Console II.

This just does not make sense. You press and hold the mike key while you press and hold the LDG tune button all the way through the tune cycle right? Many people make the mistake of letting up when the tuner starts to cycle. This error would explain why the tuner sees no RF carrier.

I held the PTT on the mic during the entire process, I key the mic on AM, press the tune button, the red LED comes on, and once it turns off I let the tune button go and the relays start clicking, after about 5 seconds they stop and I get no green led indicating a match was found, I see the red LED blink 4 times indicating no RF. Trust me, I really wanted this to work.

The issue may be that the tuner simply cannot find an acceptable match. Have you tried it into a different antenna or better yet a dummy load?

The SWR on this antenna @ 27.385MHz with my antenna analyzer is about 4.5:1, the tuner should be able to match up to 10:1. I will call the mfg again.

I am NOT a fan of LDG tuners.I have an AT-1000 & an MFJ 929 & the MFJ tunes where the LDG can't even come close & the MFJ is very fast at that. The only advantage the LDG has is that it will handle a Kilowatt where it will tune on what it will tune & the MFJ only handles 200 watts.I will never buy another LDG product because their service is also very slow & the people who answered the phone when my tuner was being repaired were very rude more than once.
