Petition FCC to Increase Legal Limit of CB Power

Only if the right people can make some money on it
I agree with Shadetree.........Only way most things happen .......greased palms, votes, or sex. I don't mean to imply the former and the later have anything connection to each other, but that combination sometimes does result in One Bad Ass Mistake America!

If the legal limit were increased would we have to register with the FCC, be required to obtain a license, pay registration fees like the forgone years? I'm sure it would be a lot more than $4 that it was when they tried that before. To many did not comply before and the gov't could not police it.

Currently we have many other problems to address nationally. Boarder control, human trafficking (yes, those two are related). Unfortunately the media will not admit the connection. They promote Soro's desire for open boarders which promotes human trafficking (slavery).

Look how the prohibition years resulted. See the current legalization of marijuana in some states. Oh my, don't forget liberal Canada currently cashing in on legalized pot. Only way for "increase in legal power in 11 meter" would be to enforce laws in which they would have to increase Big Brother and show just cause for Big Gov't.

Take a look into how Gov't imposes itself into World Banking, to track Americans who work overseas. Used to be we could work abroad for 6 months and be exempt from US taxation. Received an email from a company recently wanting me to go to Aruba for a six month contract. But, it was required that you work there for 3 weeks and return home for one (and work from home, right!). That is one way the gov't has imposed it's "trust" on business. Years back a company from Aberdeen Scotland contacted me, man the contract was sweet. 2 years paid everything. Housing, vehicle, schools for kids, insurance, bereavement transportation to and from should family member die, and full pay while away for the funeral. After researching the changes and imposed US gov't banking criteria, I found that I would not be exempt, and would have to pay host countries local and state taxes (remember now, Scotland is under England's rule, and is a socialist economy), along with US federal and state taxes. Simply do the math. They offered close to 180k yr. for 2 yrs. But after all taxes from both countries being forced upon me was just not worth it. This all happened during the One Bad Ass Mistake America administration. Hope we never fall back to the brink of socialism ever again. The Carter years were bad enough.

Not sure about you, but the last thing I want or need is anymore gov't prying into our lives.

Who would this benefit? Manufacturers? Anyone who wants 12/36 watts can get it and no one is going to check or care. I am just wondering what difference it would really make? I am all for it, but what's the point?

If you were way out on the fringe and someone could barely hear you they might not have to strain to here you.

I hear that... But just get a powerful radio if you need or want one. The FCC should be the last thing on your mind in making that decision. The FCC doesn't care what you do on 11 meters and everyone here knows that to be a fact. Everyone except the OP maybe. But by all means, petition away, I will sign it if it helps your cause. SIGNED

Maybe we should petition Public Schools to teach people how to do antenna work so they wouldn't need more power.
Seems the schools don't offer much in the way of trades anymore, much less anything that does not require a computer. I'm sure some would be interested about the "computer models" but show no interest in actual builds and the trial and error process when the "model" doesn't work. The engineering people today have no real hands on experience, and no ability to apply field knowledge. Working in Petro-Chem Refineries I see this. Have to go round with engineers who quote things and refuse to acknowledge the skilled folks who "have done that, been there, got the scars to prove it!". It's fun though, kind of watching Jeramiah Johnson when the old trapper runs that grizzly into the cabin......."SKIN THAT ONE, PILGRIM!....en I'll send nother'n in fer ya!"

It wouldn't sink in. They would still give awards to the ones that built shitty antennas. I heard that some local schools no longer give less than 50% grades. The worst you can do is a 50. The schools only care about the numbers and making sure the superintendent can afford that new boat.

Yeah, well the only way they would ever allow 100w/peak is if it is in a tamper proof radio where no one could mess it up just to say 'its better than new, just listen to this distortion - isn't it great'? And 'its better than yours; I had Circuit Monkey at BillyBob's CB radio shop do it up one of a kind'.

Then, the FCC would have to enforce ALL amp usage to hold to a new standard. Lots of teary eyes and big fines down the road in that direction.

Yeah, 200w/peak and the spectral security police making sure that's all you have. Which would still be a bargain and a victory that is worth having and holding. ALL those who violate are gonna be in a heap of trouble then - IMO . . .

It is stupid to tune a radio up for ghost watts that no cb'er will ever hear.
