Hi,

I got this ranger rhf-618 given to me, the previous owner shorted pin 5 onthe mic plug trying to trial and error wire up a mic! so with shorting out pin 5 the up button pin, the radio is constantly going up channel the board is the same board ad the 2970n2, the cpu is almost like the 2950dx. but I am trying to find the bad component, anyone have any info on these radios?

Thanks for any info

There are 2 options.
1. Signal from mic socket goes directly to the processor - it is fried.
2. There is a transistor between - transistor is shorted.

Don't throw it out, keep it and use parts from it, or if you feel like it's worth it, send it out to a good tech and they should be able to resolve the issue. JMO. But I wouldn't just throw it away.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
