Running coax to a random wire

Hi,
I'd like to run coax to a random wire from my antenna tuner.
The reason I don't just run a full wire is that the first part of the run would be on the side of my house and I don't want it to radiate to the next door neighbors house.
Should I connect to the wire to coax with a balun?
And what kind? 1:1, 4:1?
Thanks in advance.

You have to measure impedance at feedpoint than deicide what balun to use.
At least choke balun is a must.

How do I do that exactly?
With an ohmmeter from the braided shield to center wire?

Easiest way would be using an antenna analyzer like the MFJ 259B.

Since not all have one in the shack I would use whatever you have 1:1 current or a 4:1 current balun.

Can not say for sure the performance as every installation is different, that is the fun of experimenting with antennas.

Use what you got and see how it works.
