Like shopping for a 40 year-old car. They come in two varieties.
Cheap, but will need to restored if what you want is a daily driver.
Or, already restored for regular use but at a higher price.

I got lucky ! Mine works , checked some tubes of mine on a friends who is a Ham Op & much smarter than me , results were the same .
Any tester that can check a 6KD6 tube can test a 8950.
Use all the same setup for 6KD6 *BUT* the heater voltage. Set it for 13 Volts, or if you can't then use 12.6.
Only real difference between the two types is the heater voltage.
