mine started as a secreat identity. a few freinds and i were always on and when we would chat people would always ask us questions about fixin there stuff. it got old so i used Carl as a second handle so people wouldnt bother me. Dave was my buddy.

its not my name as most people think, it is part of my middle name but its not listed on qrz.

name came from early experiments in cb where my signal happened to go beyond the freq i was tx,ing on..
 
I got mine at the age of 15....while watching a Walt Disney cartoon with the family. Mickey's dog Pluto was running through the house, knocking stuff all over the place......my Dad says...."There's Raymond" :idea:
 
cphilip was the user name I was given when I first came to work at Clemson U in January of 1980. I stuck with it. Used it and always used it as a user name on everything. I figured I was not smart enough to remember a bunch of different clever names and this one has its root in my real name, Philip Carroll. Then they would use your last names first leter and your first name (at least as much as they could till they didn't need any more leters.

Eventually I just became known as cphilip everywhere I went. Pronounced "See Fill Up" and I eventualy bought the domain name and its now representative of me. At some point they made me a Avitar using my favorite frog character and with a Paintball marker in my hand (which was the site I used to admin and moderate for a major paintball manufacturer) and so it just is easier to recognise me if I keep it every where I go.

I also think its a good idea to develop a personality that is really you and keep a name that is specificaly yours. Everywhere. I see others doing it and am never suprized to run into a fellow forum member on a completely different forum and know who they are. They do the same.

sounds like whomever gave ya that handle thought alot about ya LOL by the way ya forgot one (elevator don't go all the way up!) I have been accused of that one a few times myself!!
