What software do you use regularly?

It may not be SWR problems per se, but when I apply lotsa watts, the devices tend to un plug and play themselves with the characteristic "ba donk" on the speakers as the disconnect is made.

SWR will aggravate common mode currents, but a good shunt system will greatly minimize their influence.

All of my coax runs have their shields grounded at the tower where they pass through a grounded bulkhead buss bar. Then before they come into the shack there is another buss bar where the PolyPhasers are mounted. The shack buss bar goes to that buss bar and the ground systems of the shack and tower are connected to each other as well as the AC entrance ground is connected to the shack system (per NFPA NEC).

Since doing all of that, such issues as losing USB connections have all but disappeared. It's an art as much as a technical process.

I like dx summit for a cluster. I also frequent the mountain lake k12 site for close to "real time" changes in vhf-uhf band enhancement and the Hepburn site for long range forecasts. As for logging I'm still an old school pen and paper guy..

Differentiating between the letter "K" and the letter "g" or "th" and "f" at a great distance. Maximizing intelligibility without compromising efficiency should always be the name of the game if you're going to take people's money and charge them for your services. Technicians with Integrity anyway.
Last I checked intelligibility wasn't useless when trying to communicate.

this thread went off the rails.the train is going to crash. i foresee a locked thread very soon. btw my software is webroot

Trying to register at qrzcq.com but keep getting this error message concerning my Email: "Messages sent to this address were rejected in the past."

I have had this Email for years with no problem and use it daily.
I have reported the problem to them twice but no one ever responds. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,
Jim

I just downloaded dxlabs installer and installed dxview. Is that even useful today, or are there better tools for the job.
DXLabs has many tools to help you operate your station and help you find stations to work. https://dxlabsuite.com/

The tools in DXLab can be intimidating to learn because they offer so many features. The documentation is extensive and daunting. Bite it off in small chunks but you will have to RTFM.

I use it to manage my logbook, show me DXspots for stations I haven't worked before (by band, by mode) and control my radio (click a spot and it tunes my radio to the spot frequency and mode). There are many other tools that are available but I don't find them necessary for my situation.

I'm a DXer trying to work all the 340 DXCC entities (some I never will). Between DXKeeper and SpotCollector I have 313 confirmed. For example have SpotCollector setup to send me email alerts for specific stations when they are spotted by stations close to me.

I have tried Ham Radio Deluxe, LOG4OM, CQRlog, and N3FJP's Amateur Contact Log.

I watch for DX operations at NG3K's page. https://www.ng3k.com/Misc/adxo.html

When DX operation that I need is announced I use VOACAP to help me plan how to work them. https://www.voacap.com/hf/

I input my location and the DX location and specify the mode, power, and antennas used by me and by them. VOACAP shows me what time (UTC time) and what bands for the best chance to make a contact.

The example below is Peter Island, 3Y0L in February 2027. Their antenna plan hasn't been announced yet so I made a guess. I'll update my prediction when new information is available.

When they become active SpotCollector keeps a history of the DX spots so I can compare my VOACAP prediction with the spots from people in my area. I'll adjust my strategy if necessary.
