Like some others here, he was a crotchety old bastard at times (his words, not mine), but he was darn knowledgeable and helped a great many of us.

I was in contact with Sonar around Thanksgiving. He said he was doing well. But I got no response from him around Christmas time.

If he did he is posting from the grave. He is on twowayradioforum.com and posted Dec.29 2021. After some site changes here he got grumpy about change and left.
