Wow!!! Galaxy LC 998v most expensive export?

I guess it's all about what you want. And what your willing to pay for it. That galaxy has to have some heat issues. Sure is a lot of money for a wanna be ham radio.

I learned in the small time that I've spent on here and experimenting that watts means nothing without at min a half decent antenna setup. Throw all the watts you want , just wasted energy. ( Talking out aloud to myself )

Definetly has heat issues... Just like the ranger rci-69ffb4, at least the ranger has toshiba pills in it , but drifts like a sailboat.. That little fan inside only does so much, the galaxy dx95t with the 2 pills also runs hot.. But if you tune them the right way and not try to squeeze every last watt out of the radio , they will run a lot cooler.. If it was me though, I would rather spend the money on a radio, like a uniden grant XL, cobra 148 GTL , lots of nice radios out there to choose from, and a separate amp. You will have a better setup for the money spent. (y) But that is just my opinion, what do I know.. :)

Im not sure about the heat on the FFB4, but on the N4 the heat aint so much the amp unit but the mosfet or whatever they are called that are mounted on the side of the chasis frame.

Like I said, if they are tuned correctly heat will usually not be a problem, but most try to get the most watts out of them , heat then becomes an issue. I have heard a number of people were blowing mosfets in the N4 because of an improper tune... I could be wrong though...

Without a very aggressive tune to remove all the IMD it will get hot.
It's a shame they couldn't spend a few extra bucks per unit and use beta matched transistors to eliminate some of that IMD.

There's varying degrees of reputable also.
The ones that think the laws of physics don't matter when it comes to taking precise measurements are the ones that slightly misalign every radio that crosses their bench even though they have good intentions.
It stands to reason that if someone's bench isn't configured to take precise measurements then any adjustment they make will be slightly wrong.

I saw a video where Jokerman, retested these transistors and found they were not always truly marched. It pissed him off it would appear in the video.

jason..(jokerman) the beta test he was doing is not the same gear the manufacturers use so therefore the current applied is different so therefore the reading is different ..most beta testers for transistors are for small signal transistors not rf finals which require more current to switch on ..the results will be different.

if the test unit can not supply the necessary needed parameters to even switch the transistor on correctly how is one to expect a consistent resultant reading? ..many have posted videos on youtube of this fact (so called amp "builders" etc) ..it was actually me that pointed this out to jason some months ago ..now hes changed his "tune '

If you pay RF Parts the extra fee, they will beta match them for you.
I Don't think any amplifier builders go the extra mile to provide that extra value to their customers.

Yeah, he was basically using a meter called a cricket? Alot of the figures matched on what was supplied to him but some didn't. If that makes any sense. I think RF parts was written on the packaging.
