i recall the 257 series being stable decent radios . are they still made ? don't see them for sale new anywhere ...... if they're not , whats a decent budget SSB 10 meter/CB radio ? don't need high power , will put a simple 2 pill behind it .
thanks

Try this on for size...

on the left hand side click on the "Yeticom Optima".
I love mine, but my FT 450d is better.

The only "new" Magnum radio made right now is the Magnum 1, all the rest are no longer made since Sam Lewis passed away. I hope his son can get things going.

A Korean company who uses the name "Dragon" made those in the Phillippines, IIRC.

Sold them to a variety of brand names around the world. Magnum was just one of them. Seems to me that RatShack had one for a while.

According to cbradiomagazines review of the Roadpro Titan II RPSY-485...

"Some variations of this model radio include the - Magnum 257, Magnum 357, Realistic TRC-485, Albrecht AE-485, Black Hawk, Pro Star 400 and the Radio Shack HTX-10."

Yeticom offers a Magnum 257 clone called the Optima, or you could go this route.

The Magnum 1 is a pretty decent radio and the only one in the Magnum lineup these days but be ready because there's another one coming out in the very near future!

i'll look into them . the 257 style actually didn't appeal to me much , but seemed functional ,but it was constantly said it was stable and had solid modulation and for only $250ish seemed safe . the 2050dx seems to still have issues .
thanks B
