It's a lot stronger than the one that came with my Wilson 5000.

The SO-239 was never intended to be an antenna mount and I will never use this type of mount. Have a look at Breedlove mounts, hand made and the best you can get.

It works great for my bottom load Wilson 5000 which probably weighs 6 oz or so.
You're right it's totally useless for heavy antennas with a 3/8 24 shaft.
