BBi explains antennas. (put on your high boots)

"RF is an AC signal. It turns on and it turns off...." Ummmmm.....well DC turns on and it turns off and it turns on and it turns off ...........every time I put my turn signals on. That 12 volts going to the signal lights must be AC then. BBI said so.

He also says a dipole radiates off the ends. Funny how all the physics says they radiate mostly from the centre with diminishing radiation as you approach the ends. An antenna radiates from a current maxima not a voltage maxima which is what is at the ends.........high voltage very low current.

Me thinks BBI stands for Bigger and Better Idiot.

So it’s you that my antenna keeps picking up, you and your turn signal huh?

Yes. I have gold star stickers and cookies.

I read 12 whole post today, do I get a star? I also replaced the clipped out limiters in 3 radios so could I maybe get a cookie too?

I don’t hide the fact that I like BBi but yeah, maybe he needs to just stick to making videos about repairs to amps. Or how he makes his work neat and tidy... maybe just leave the antenna stuff alone and kinda let other people explain that.

For TheRealPorkc hop......

How you know I wear shades all the time? You watching me? Is that you the dog barks at all night? You trying to get in here and get my BBi t-shirt? Hahahahaha

Just got back from the top of my antenna. Had to put a plastic cap on top to keep it from radiating straight up, if that doesn't work I'll take the sawzall and split my vert. down to the hub and curl both sides back. Must be why the car antennas at the bar are awl twisted and curled to keep it from radiating straight up

Just get some ferrite and clamp around the top of it, that might block it and force it outwards. Or solder some wire to the tip, like guy wires and run them down to the ground, like a x-mas tree. There’s got to be a way to stop that pesky RF from going up instead of out, dang ole RF man... talking bout goin’ up and all man...
