Thinking about installing the following board. I have never installed anything on/inside a cb before. I have installed car stereos and amps, so I'm ok with wiring as long as I have instructions. As you know the 980 is a 6 pin, but I am using the adapter to connect a Ranger SRA 198. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have found the following pin layout on another forum, if someone could confirm:

PIN COLOR FUNCTION
1: Yellow Audio HOT
2: BLACK RX switching
3: RED TX switching
4: N/C
5: SHIELD
6: 7.8VDC (as-found on this pig-rig) phantom power for power mic*

I believe that’s correct, pin 1 is audio and so on.

That board would have to be the absolute most annoying damn thing you could possibly install in a radio (maybe), I gotta order one too. I already know exactly who I want to annoy with it too.

Easy enough to absolutely confirm the other pins. You ground the receive pin and it receives, done. Same with the transmit pin, ground it and the radios switches to transmit, done. Easy to trace that ground pin (shield) to actual ground on the pcb. But I believe that what you’ve got listed is right.

Thanks all for the responses. Even those wth would you do that. As RT431 stated, I like to have it so others know I'm done transmitting. On a cell, land line, or Skype you can tell when the other person is done talking. I feel it's an added courtesy to the transmission without having to say Roger, go ahead, your turn, etc.

With that said, thank you porkchop. Do I unsodder the cables from the original board then connect to new board - then connect from new board to original board?

It looks like by what you posted it piggybacks onto the circuit but I just got home from the dentist and I’m kinda loopy right now.

Give me awhile to come back to earth and I’ll look again. Or someone else chime in and offer advice on this.
