WestMountainRadio ClrDsp feedback

I have been using a Heil Clear Speech speaker for the last 16 yrs on a RCI 2970dx and it finally gave up this past month.
So I put the West Mt. DSP speaker in it's place and it seems to work just as good as the Heil speaker - in fact this one seems to have a quicker response after unkey than the Heil.

IIRC, the WMR unit “is” or “borrowed” (good sense) Bob Heils design. The story is in at least one place that I saw it years ago when first researching my expensive CB radio gamble.

My Road to Emmaus moment was pretty funny. I plugged it in, and . . . .

I can't speak for the CLRdsp, but the CLRspkr is great! Only delay issue I have encountered is when you have the squelch up on the radio. When a signal breaks the squelch there is a slight delay with the processor. I have used it mobile with 3 different radios. Stryker 955, Top Gun Quad 5 and an Anytone 6666. It works great on all 3. I can run the squelch wide open and not hear the annoying hash, just the signals. I was quite skeptical regarding the $200 price at first. When you consider that many of us have way more than $200 invested in our various pieces of equipment, then it kinda becomes a no brainer IMHO!

Thanks everyone for all of your input. Just ordered the processor only. Will see if it helps with all the QRM around me. Don't expect any miracles, just less noise on the ears. Will post results if anyone is interested.

BTW, the unit is on sale @ HRO for $189.95/free ship+6% tax until 6/30!

Thx & 73

I've got the "Hear it" USA version of the BHI speaker. I also have that temporary mass static when you unkey but that's probably par for the course with DSP? Other than that I can honestly say I have no idea how I lived without DSP for as long as I did.
Brand or format be damned. Get one. you'll never look back! I'll admit I wanted the West Mountain one but cheaped out on this used eBay one.
