There is something to be said for my unfocused, multi faceted life style I lead. When radio is down I jump on something else to humor me. When I took my van to Harbor Freight yesterday to pick up a carport my DX 979 was scary quite so now I have to check that out and see if it was the radio or just conditions.
They also are still trying to run competition with men for who is smarter. It is that age old battle of the sexes thing they just can't let go. LOL
Yesterday evening the NE corner plus parts of the mid west were in my receiver all night right up until midnight when I turned the radio off. I am in western NC.
A little bit happening this morning, contact with NW Arizona through the noise and still a little active. Hopefully it'll get better or at least stick around.
I said yesterday my DX979 was scary quite, well checked it out today on the bench and there seems to be no receive or very slight receive, any suggestions where to start looking? I already tried a different mic and it does have talk back, but I have noticed the Squelch knob seems to keep turning around with out stopping. Ok..9:30pm PST we have some north/south skip!! Made about 4-5 contacts with Oregon staions. They sound good down here in SoCal.

Just been hearing Florida a bit, and Oklahoma earlier up until now. Fading in and out pretty bad. Some chatter earlier on 38, but of course the loudest was a clown. Late at night I have been hearing Northern California, Oregon and Washington here in Arizona, but it has been just as hit or miss as the rest.
