Trying to find a detailed list of all capacitors inside Stryker 497HPC (newer version) and Stryker 955HPC+. Does Stryker radio give that information out to repair shops and general public or are we stuck having to make our own detailed list?
I use ARCTIC MX-6 on my CPU. It suppose to have non-drying and non-bleeding properties ensure consistent long-term performance. It didn't dry out after 6 months on my AMD 9800X3D with 360mm AIO cooler.
Louis Rossmann discuss this in a video other day.
I agree, unless consumers start ask questions and quit buying products that are anti right to repair, this crap will only get worse. The appliance industry is already pulling similar crap by adding hidden RFID strip on water filters to try...
Lots of people like the 636. I have a 636 and Stryker SR-76NC. No clue which one is better.
955HPC+ has this setting in func menu. I tried to find a video of someone testing it but no luck, no clue if it makes any difference.
MIC: (DY / EL) You can use a dynamic or electret element...
The shop that "upgraded" the capacitors from 4700uF 16v to 6800uF 25v and tuning radio shows 200watt PEP on that shop meter. I'm no radio tech but that seems odd to me.
Most shops that modify that radio show like 150watt PEP. They upgrade finals and use a maxmod.
I was checking out videos of inside of Stryker 497HPC radios and noticed a few changes in the past year.
Here is inside of stock Strkyer 497HPC made in 2024
4700uF 16v capacitors and small resistor next to right 4700uF 16v capacitor.
Below is a Stock Stryker 497HPC made in 2025...
The newer 955HPC+ don't have a jumper wire. Two ways you can do enable 11 meter. You can add a jumper connecting top pad and bottom pad or solder top pad and middle pad together. I have seen shops do it either way.
Example 1:
Example 2:
The good old school radios are getting more expensive these days and harder to find in decent shape. Most are due to be recapped or need alignment done. Truck stop cb shop near me was selling used Philippine 148GTL for over $250.
Flea bay is a crap shoot. Spend $150-200 for a radio then have...
Not 100% sure, the brt/dim switch does nothing now. When asked, the shop said they wired it directly, that "most people like it that way". I didn't want to $30 in shipping fees to have it fixed.
I might just leave it be until i figure out what echo board i want to put back in the radio. When i...
I'm trying to figure out how to wire the meter bulb back to brt/dim switch, the shop i had replace the bulb for some reason bypassed the brt/dim switch. Nothing wrong with that switch.
