    Indoor Antennas

For the best to my knowledge this is transmit/receive in the 10/11 meter bands. The building is an apartment building with no porch, deck or otherwise and is on the middle floor of a three story building. Not entire sure what he is using now as there are two antennas both I believe mobile type...

    Indoor Antennas

I have a friend I am trying to help out with an antenna situation they have. They currently reside in what I consider a horrible radio situation - it is a three floor building and their unit is in the middle. They cannot mount a normal exterior antenna (no deck, no gutter, cannot use roof, etc)...

    Acom 600S Manual?

Been looking around but so far coming up empty and before I resort to buying a copy online is there any recommended sites I might find a manual for the Acom 600S solid state amp?

    811H Fuse Blowing

Having a strange issue with my amp but only had one set of spare fuses so while I wait on more to come in the mail I am hoping on some insight on where to start troubleshooting the fuse blowing problem. General: Icom 7300 > ARB-703 > Ameritron (ALC/Relay cables to ARB box) > Meter > Antenna...

    Maco V Quad (2 element)

Just installed one of these two element V-quad antennas and having great results in the V (full horizontal) setup however it does indicate dual polarity and that if the antenna goes into a L position it will do both horizontal and vertical at the same time. I have not tested this position yet...

    Texas Star 250/350 pill mount

What the heck are these 'bolts'? I was thinking it's a small allen or star pattern of some size but either I am wrong or I just don't have the right one to fit these to pop them loose. Ideas?

    Texas Star 250 HD Resistor

That's my thought since it sure seems obvious the pill went and have to weigh the cost of that to see if this unit it worth fixing or not. I do have some of the HG pills here but not for the 250 and remember those running around 90 total.

    Texas Star 250 HD Resistor

I did have to correct my OP it is a 250 HD and only schematic I have is the 350 HD. Poor resistor is so toast it's just ash looks like it had a major overheat.

    Texas Star 250 HD Resistor

Trying to find a schematic or photo to identify this apparently quite toasty resistor. Any ideas?

    Testing ground

Just curious how (or even if) anyone has tested their ground from the amp/radio to the ground rod to ensure the ground is good. I see plenty of info checking grounds on electrical connections but not much on taking a wire from the back of the equipment right to that ground rod and testing to...

    ISO: Maverick 250 pics, underside

I have two of these amps and that capacitor seems to be funny.. one amp has a 10/150 like this (I fixed it from your post) but the other has a 10/450 cap in the same place. Tested a 10/150 and it just locked the relay on. Honestly not a one of these Mavericks seem to be exactly the same.

    Maverick 250 10m transmit fail

After playing with it a bit and matching it with my good working one I was able to determine the switch has been at least somewhat bypassed. Looks like they took the wire from the 15 meter switch and moved it over to the 10 meter part of the coil thus the empty solder point. Also looks like for...

    Maverick 250 10m transmit fail

That does seem to be what happened because every one I come across has something a little different with them. I am hoping that they at least stayed a little consistent with the switch and control stuff because as suggested bypassing the switch is perfect as it's intended purpose would be 10m.

    Maverick 250 10m transmit fail

Two relays. Guess it to be a pretty early version as it's a two prong ungrounded plug. And while it is not marked on there for 10 the knob does in fact go to four positions. The second Maverick I have has a two prong grounded plug, 'D & A' in the meter backs, a two way toggle marked for...
