11 meter is very quiet?

This is what your missing Fellas. Get your ticket, and there's always something going on. All those spikes are potential contacts. 73

I’ve looked through the “pool” of entry level questions and they’re pretty easy. About the only thing I’d have to study is anything on privileges, because I just don’t know that.

I even wrote our local club a while back (the webmaster and the president) to ask about dates for testing, and they never wrote back. The website still says next test is in September in one place, July in another, and gives two different locations for the meeting/testing.

As fate would have it, I remain a CBer!

Now, I have listened to ham bands quite a bit from the bottom of the spectrum up to VHF, and it’s something very different than 11meter DXing. I don’t know if I could remain interested for the long term...I’d probably just tune my rig to 6925 and listen for pirates half the time.

I get it. I just got really tired of going long periods of time on 11m not hearing much day after day during this solar cycle. I just knew there had to be more on the Air. 1st day I through a wire over a high tree branch I was amazed of how much was really out there. Been a CB'er since 1970, and still use it but, Ham radio rocks. I'm not one of those Amateurs that look down on 11m. I totally get it, but I just want to let folks know what's out there. 73

I’ll end up with a ticket at some point, but who knows when. I found two local tests prior to the end of the year, one being on my brothers wedding day, and the other I’ll be on a hunting trip. Haha.

As far as my interests in ham radio...I think at the present I’m more interested in 6m SSB dx than anything. I need to take some time to learn code, because I’d be interested in that on HF bands.

Myself , I've studied some ( More to do ) & passed online tests many times . My WWDX pals keep reminding me now & then to get my license . My problem is time , not for the test , the radio . What little time I spend on it chatting Dx I enjoy or just chatting w/ locals some time . As I get older this small farm consumes a lot of my time . Here in RI I have at least 5 friends that have their " Ticket " & where are they .... on 11m chatting w/ me . No lie ! Never could figure that out ? I mean NO disrespect to any Ham Operator & can't wait till the day I have time for my license & that IC-7300 ( or similar ) but spend all that time & $ on equipment ... :whistle:o_O 73 & God Bless , Leo ( jmo )

CW is fun. When I first got my ticket I enjoyed it quite a bit but I never could get past the 10/11wpm threshold, and for one reason or the other let my code knowledge lapse. For the most part, the most enjoyable QSO's I had back then were on CW. Whenever voice communications dropped into the noise level CW seemed to get through the hash just fine.
