avanti av-190 saturn

Bob thanks for replying back with the info. It is a challenging anttena. Eventually I mite put it up , or put up the law 150 salute. I've been looking for a long time for a original sigma 4 but no luck. The Larry 150 has a broken radiator on the cone assembly. I have high winds , hopefully it will handle it.

I saw your post about this Avanti Saturn AV-190. I made a post here under the
title, "Avanti Saturn AV-190". You might find it interesting. I actually owned one
of these models back around 1978 or so. Bought it New and carefully assembled
it to the extensive instructions they provided. I'm here to tell you to reconsider wasting
your time putting one up. I actually got a reply from Jay who also owned one too!
The problems I had, he had too. I contacted Avanti in Addison, IL by telephone
many of time talking to their technicians. They gave me things to check but they couldn't help me lower the Extremely High SWR values on the Horizontal side of the antenna.
Jay also had the same experience too. Neither of us were able to fix it and apparently
either did Avanti. They offered to return my money and I was lucky to get back my
$240! My dealer wasn't going to help me out, but Avanti did, which suggests they
knew they had big technical issues with the design.
When I heard other's are frantically seeking this antenna, I figured I should chime-in
before someone else wastes their Time & Money. I hear they are selling in excess of
$350!. In my opinion, anyone who is unlucky enough to purchase one will be
sadly disappointed!

i must say a big thanks to 212 for finding this and shipping it to me,
and to mack for not taking it when i gave him the opportunity, it came to its rightful home(y)(y)(y)
Bump for info

the saturn coil is 8 turns of .083" enamled copper, close wound with an internal bore of .760" the tail off one end including ring connector is 1-1/4" the other end is 2-3/8" including ring connector bent at 90 degrees 5/8" from the coil.
I don't know if Bob's numbers for the Saturn coil worked or not, but his details for this coil should be a lesson for some folks that try and help, by providing good detailed antenna dimensions and comments to other's.

This might help explain why Bob claimed to have never installed his Saturn.

The first time I ever heard of Bob buying any antenna and not build it, put it up, and talk on it.
