I found an old post here on building a RF probe or RF meter.
How do I go about setting up a scope to test a defective circuit and trace RF?
Will I need anything besides the probe?
Sorry for the simple question, but help me to understand this, Is the audio DC or AC? Should I be using the scope...
Could someone point me to the instructions on how you go about this. With all the bashing of incompetent hackers maybe someone could show me the right way to do it. We need more teachers.
First which radio?
If it's a cobra 29, it is usually done by joining the brown and orange together(solder and shrink wrap), cap the others and now the radio is in cb rec only.
The easy way is to use the blank post on the bright dim switch, if you test there with your voltmeter you will see that...
Pete, sorry I was away, I didn't mean to bad mouth any meter, I just wanted to make sure your comparison was the same, I have a dosy, a bird and a few others.
When I first started doing this mod, I couldn't get the dosy to read more than 25, when I hooked it to my bird and hooked it to a friends...
First question, what did the radio do before, did it work and is the wattmeter accurate? The reason I ask is that when I first started I could only get my Dosy to read about 25pep, which wasn't even close to the 38 they were doing on a bird.
I have done a few of these, I have never had any luck...

I was reading the articles on the 29 you did and found them most helpful, I was wondering if you could help me out with one that I'm trying to bring back to life.

I have seen a few with the rfx that were smoked because they were stuck up in a hole, heat is the worst enemy.
Two things first, can you confirm the accuracy of the wattmeter? and can you hook the radio, meter in the truck and temporary run two wires to the battery?
The reason I ask is that most...
Warning, when I googled the site (not from the link)
I got a nortons warning of attack, be careful.
I have know David(DTB) and can't imagine why someone would want to do this, there is a script kiddy on a few other sites that seems to have to much time on his hands.
Does anyone know what resistor will change the intensity of the channel display on bright on a Cobra 29LTD?
I found some info on the black and chrome for changing the intensity of the meter light and channel display, but it is different on the LTD.
I pulled R115, R116 and R117. After pulling...
