The amp in question has burn marks under the tube sockets and doesn't turn on, I will have to figure out how to fix that, maybe rewire the board? This will be a project in the near future.

would swapping out tubes also need to swap out the sockets? I am guessing a almost a whole retrofit to accommodate the modern tubes... Interesting!

I was thinking of something similar but instead using a Stryker SR-89MC to drive a TS 667. Should do from 4-8 watts DK to 30+ swing. Also thought of doing my Stryker 655 which does about 10w swinging to 60 whistle... Would I damage the 667 using these radios?

Just got my hands on one and wanted to not only in working condition but to get it to looking like it came out of the box new (OK maybe not so new). Any tricks to clean this up without using abrasive materials or anything that would take off the gold finish?

Yes thanks, I am going to check the actual speaker wire and see if that is loose but had plans to eyeball inside the whole chassis for other issues. Seems that this radio was not so well cared for so might have to go over with a fine comb, hopefully not take it to the doctor..
